Jessica Serves as the Co-Chair of the YRichmond Program of C3
I have been a part of the YRichmond Steering Committee for going on 3 years now. This year I am excited to be serving as the Co-Chair of that Committee. When I talk about Richmond and all its possibilities, I know that I can inspire someone else to feel that same connection to the City. It’s a great place to live, work, and play. The interns involved in the YRichmond Program are being given a great opportunity to be introduced to one of the most diverse, creative, active, and ever growing cities out there. It’s a city, but it’s the small town community feel that keeps people here and brings people back.
Jessica’s Bio
As a young girl, I knew I was going to grow up and be a dancer. However, as time went on, I realized, there were a lot of other little girls that wanted to be dancers too, and they were a lot better than I was. So, as reality settled in, I was drawn to the helping profession: Social Work. Life has always taken me exactly where I'm supposed to be, or at least it seems. So, with life as my guide, I have ended up at the United Way of Greater Richmond and Petersburg where I currently work with the greatest group of people one could hope for. Along the way I have worked in Early Childhood Education, Non-profit Consulting, Independent Living Counseling, and even dabbled a little in Wine and Spirits Promotion. Quite the mix. But where I've found my place is in a medium size non-profit focused on creating long lasting change for this wonderful community that I call home. I get to be a part of a larger picture that creates reality out of possibilities. Who wouldn't love that job?! But don't think I haven't gotten to live out my dancing dreams. I have a whole dining room devoted to practicing my latest dance moves. And, my seven year old cat makes the perfect audience.
