Christina McClung

I really enjoy working with C3 because I am driven to highlight the vast creative community in the Richmond region. I truly believe that this organization has the opportunity to create diverse programs that unveil the culture that is vibrant in so many places throughout the city. The YRichmond program is a part of C3 and has grown over the last 3 years to really showcase this region to young talent exploring the area. I enjoy serving as the Co-Chair of the YRichmond program as a way to give back to Richmond.  As an HR professional, I think this program is critical to the college interns experiencing Richmond in the summer and helping them to uncover, as I have, that this is an amazing city to live, work and play.

Christina graduated from Virginia Tech with a Bachelor of Science in Management. Her concentration was in Human Resources.  While at Virginia Tech she served at the Speaker of the House and the Vice-President of the student body. Her biggest accomplishment was founding the Big Event at Virginia Tech, the largest student-run community service day in the nation. For her service to the university she received two awards in 2002, Greatest Achievement by an Individual and Outstanding Service to Campus. Northwestern Mutual is proud to have been the sponsor of the Big Event at Virginia Tech for the last 4 years.

After college, Christina joined Cintas Corporation as the Human Resources Manager for their Richmond location.  In October 2004, Christina joined the Virginia Group of Northwestern Mutual Financial Network as their Director of Recruitment and Selection. Christina has been an outstanding recruiter who has been instrumental in the development of the successful recruiting process we have in Richmond, in addition to working closely with our district offices.  She has been recognized by the Northwestern as the #1 recruiter in the country in 2006 and 2007 and her counsel on center of influence development is sought by many in the system. Christina has also served on the Recruiting, Retention and Diversity field committee for the last two years at the home office. In 2008, she began consulting with many offices in the Northwestern system for recruiting and COI development.  In 2009, Christina took over the role of Chief Recruiting Officer with the Virginia Group. In this role she is implementing the agency’s vision for growth of our recruiting, retention and development programs for reps under five years.

She is also actively involved in the community in multiple organizations. She is currently the President-Elect of the Western Henrico Rotary Club and the Chair of the YRichmond program of C3 that was established in 2007 as a way to showcase the Richmond region to new talent.  Her hobbies include triathlons, running, dancing and karaoke.  She lives in Chesterfield with her husband, Aaron.
