July Breakfast Club: An Inside Look at the Local Filmmaking Industry REGISTER
C3: The Creative Change Center is pleased to welcome local leaders in the filmmaking industry, Rex Teese, Carlos Chafin and Lucas Krost, as they offer their thoughts on the local filmmaking scene in a panel discussion format. Join us for an interesting morning as we hear about post production jobs conducted right here in Richmond on major Hollywood films, and the differences between working on Hollywood productions versus local productions. The C3 Breakfast Club will be held at In Your Ear, 1813 East Broad Street, Richmond, VA 23223 from 7:30 to 9 a.m. The event costs $15.00, and includes breakfast.

Carlos H. Chafin, Jr.
CEO/President and Staff Composer - In Your Ear Music & Recording Services A Biography
Carlos Chafin was born in Virginia and began his study of music a local Carytown music store at age 7. Before exiting High School, Carlos had become a first-call studio session musician on piano, organ and synthesizer. After college studies at VCU, Carlos split his duties between recording engineer, electronics/software designer and studio musician/composer. It would be 10 years before he would return his focus strictly to composition.
In summer of 1990, Carlos along with long time friend & songwriter Robbin Thompson and veteran engineer & guitarist Joe Sheets formed In Your Ear Music and Recording Services. With a focus on composition for film and television, his team enjoyed immediate success in the heart of the Richmond Virginia's creative community. With advertising agencies, The Martin Agency, Earle Palmer Brown and Siddall, Matus and Coughter as initial supporters, Carlos and In Your Ear soon gained national acclaim.
His credits include co-composer and arranger of the musical “The Red Badge of Courage” and theme music for The 20th Century Fox release “Gleaming The Cube” and co-writer of Virginia’s , North Carolina’s and Florida Tourism’s musical theme signatures with partner Robbin Thompson. He also wrote, scored and produced for an exclusive list of advertisers including Miller Lite, Purina and Holiday Inn (Fallon McElligott, NY and MN), Colgate (Y&R New York), Sprint (McCann Erikson New York), Seiko, Saab, Wrangler, Walmart (The Martin Agency), Coca Cola (Weiden & Kennedy) and the musical / sound design signature theme for Sesame Workshops and QVC.
In March of 2004, Carlos was voted Richmond Ad Club’s “Ad Person of the Year." At present, Carlos serves as an audio industry representative to the editorial board of POST Magazine, the leading trade for the postproduction industry. He is also the developer and teacher of a music and technology course titled Computer and Music. The course was added to VCU as class VCU APPM 382 and is part of VCU’s Music Industry degree program. He continues to serve as president of In Your Ear in Richmond’s Shockoe Bottom.
Rex Teese
Rex started his fillmmaking career as an apprentice editor in 1998 on the TV drama "Legacy" filmed here in Richmond for UPN network. He also served as apprentice editor on the movies "Hannibal" and "Hearts in Atlantis", both filmed here in Richmond. His other film credits include:

Editor of a movie adaptation of "Jack and the Beanstalk."
